Training on Sustainable Spice Production Strategies

ICAR - Indian Institute of Spices Research hosted a one-day district-level training programme on sustainable production strategies in spice crops, in collaboration with the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH).

The programme focused on creating awareness among farmers about sustainable spice cultivation. Scientists from ICAR-IISR led interactive sessions on improved spice varieties, soil management practices for sustainable production, and preventive plant protection measures for effective pest and disease management. Demonstrations and dissemination of innovative technologies aimed at improving productivity and quality in spice crops were also undertaken.

An expert interaction on reimagining spice extension systems was also organized alongside the training, with scientists and domain experts deliberating on future vision, cross-learning, and strategic pathways for strengthening knowledge dissemination in the spice sector.
