ICAR – Indian Institute of Spices Research observed International Women's Day 2026 with enthusiastic participation from the institute fraternity. The programme, organized by the Institute Women Cell, was aligned with the global theme "Rights. Justice. Action for All Women and Girls."

Dr. R Dinesh, Director, presided over the programme and highlighted the importance of empowering women to build stronger institutions and progressive societies. Dr. R Praveena, Senior Scientist, delivered the welcome address.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Adeela Abdulla, IAS, Special Secretary, Social Justice Department, Government of Kerala, joined the programme virtually and highlighted the importance of creating inclusive and supportive work environments that enable women to progress and contribute effectively.

Dr. Deepak Bose, Specialist in Gynaecologic Oncology at IQRAA International Hospital & Research Centre attended the event as a special invitee and delivered an awareness lecture on "Prevention of Gynaecological Cancers," emphasizing early detection, regular screening, and healthy lifestyles.
As part of the programme, a training session on Processing of Spices was also conducted for women farmers, promoting value addition and entrepreneurship in the spices sector. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Shameena Beegum P P, Senior Scientist, ICAR-IISR.
