The World Environment Day, 2023 was celebrated at ICAR-Indian Institute of Spices Research, Kozhikode on 5th June 2023. In the morning, the memorial planting of trees was done in remembrance of the Former Directors of ICAR-IISR which was followed by the inauguration of "Kisan Seva Kendra", an outlet for the sale of farm bio-inputs of ICAR Institutes. The unit was inaugurated by Dr. Abdul Hameed E, Former Scientist, KSCSTE - CWRDM. Later, he delivered a talk on "Water scenario in Kerala" where he enlightened us on different aspects of Kerala's water availability and constraints on water resources and its way forward. In the evening, a mass tree planting drive was conducted on the campus where different tree species were planted in different locations of the Institute.
Massive planting of fruit trees was undertaken in the ICAR-IISR Regional Station Appangala, Experimental farm Peruvennamuzhi and KVK, IISR, Kozhikode. Also, the staff from IISR RS, Appangala planted saplings of different trees in the premises of Govt. Higher Primary School, Bettageri with the participation of students and teachers.
