ICAR -IISR successfully conducted a 5-day training program on Production and Value Addition of Spices for 17 participants from Nashik and Nandurbar districts of Maharashtra during 19-23 February 2024. The participants were beneficiaries and officials from SMART project (Agri-business for rural transformation project funded by World bank) of respective districts. The training program was inaugurated by Dr. V Srinivasan, Head, Division of Crop Production, ICAR -IISR. Sessions related to crop production and plant protection were carried out for the participants followed by an exposure visit to Subicsha Producer Company at Perambra and Spice Processing Facility at the Experimental Farm, Peruvannamuzhy. Hands on training session was held at the Spice Processing Facility of IISR headquarters. Sessions on packaging and business plan development were also under taken as part of the programme. Dr. R Dinesh, Director, ICAR-IISR, presided over the valedictory function and distributed certificates to participants. He offered all possible support to the entrepreneurial initiatives of the participants. The training program was coordinated by Dr. Rajeev P, Dr. Sajesh V K and Dr. Maneesha S R.
