I. UNDER NATIONAL AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH SYSTEM [AU/DU TO ICAR]

Eligibility

The students who have registered for their Ph.D in any of the above Agricultural Universities and wish to do their research work at ICAR-IISR, Kozhikode may approach through concerned Universities to The HRD, ICAR-IISR, Kozhikode. HRD will facilitate allocation of major guide/advisor, based on the availability of vacancy under concerned guides.

Fee structure

There is no Ph.D fees for the students who have registered from the above Agricultural Universities and carrying out research work at ICAR-IISR, Kozhikode. However, if a student registers with Agricultural University (AU) / Deemed University (DU) under National Agricultural Research System with any fellowship for Ph.D awarded through competitive mode of All India Entrance Examination (eg. ICAR-JRF (PGS)/ICAR-SRF(PGS)/CSIR-UGC-JRF/CSIR-SRF), the contingency grant awarded to the student may be transferred to ICAR-IISR, Kozhikode.

General Terms & Conditions
  • Candidates possessing the eligibility, may approach the Human Resource Development (HRD)cell, ICAR-IISR, Kozhikode with relevant documents.
  • Selection of Ph.D. candidates would be done twice during a year i.e. during April and September. Candidates interested in joining for Ph.D. may submit their application and will be invited for a presentation before HRD. The selection and allocation of research guide would be done by HRD based on their presentation and availability of vacancy.
  • The candidates who join for Ph.D should abide by the rules and regulations of the institute.
  • The findings of Ph.D programme would be the property of the institute and prior permission of the Director, ICAR- Indian Institute of Spices Research is required before publication of the work in any form.
  • A copy of the thesis (hard & soft copy) should be submitted to the institute.
  • The candidates should make their own arrangements for boarding and lodging while doing Ph.D, if necessary.
  • The fee once paid will not be refunded in any circumstances.
  • The decision of Director, ICAR-IISR, Kozhikode, would be final and binding in all aspects.

II. OUTSIDE NATIONAL AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH SYSTEM

(Central/State Govt./Public Sector funded institutions/ State Universities/PSU/ Autonomous bodies/ Statutory Corporations/ Private Universities or institutions)

Eligibility

Candidates with valid National level fellowship (JRF/SRF of CSIR, UGC, DBT, etc.), or any other equivalent fellowship (KSCSTE etc.,) are required for pursuing Ph.D. at ICAR-IISR.SRFs/JRFs/Young professional -II working under different research projects are also eligible for Ph.D. at ICAR-IISR. HRD will facilitate allocation of guide/co guide, based on the vacancy. However, the objective(s) for research work for a student should be exclusively different as far as possible.

Fee structure

The students shall be uniformly charged a bench fee of Rs.15,000 + 18% GST per semester (15000 + 2700 = 17,700) per semester for three years from the date of Ph.D. registration at ICAR-IISR, Kozhikode. Those students who are continuing Ph.D. after three years are required to pay a fee of Rs. 5,000 + 18% GST (5000 + 900 = 5,900) per year (Jan-Dec) as Ph.D. continuation fees. The fee should be paid in the beginning of each semester (i.e. Jan & July of each year).

Admission procedure:

Based on the PhD vacancy position, applications will be invited once in a year (ONLINE) i.e. during May-June. (Advertisement will be given through institute website and newspapers etc.,). Interested candidates in joining for Ph.D. may submit their application online with relevant documents and will be invited for a presentation before interview panel arranged by HRD. The selection and allocation of research guide would be done by HRD based on their merit and availability of vacancy.
