ICAR-IISR wins National Award

ICAR – Indian Institute of Spices Research in Kozhikode has been awarded “Sardar Patel Outstanding ICAR Institution Award” for the year 2021. Dr. C. K. Thankamani, Director of the Institute received the award from Narendra Singh Tomar, Honourable Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare at 94th ICAR Foundations day ceremony held at NASC, New Delhi on Saturday (16th July). This award is given considering the performance of the institute for the past five years.  The award consists of a cash award of Rs. 10 lakhs, a citation and a plaque.
The Institutes for this award are selected based on several criteria such as significant output/outcome from research activities, number and quality of research publications, technologies licensed/commercialized, infrastructure developed, capacity building efforts. This is the third time that the institute is bestowed with this award. Dr. Thankamani said that the award is a timely recognition for the hard work and dedicated efforts of the institute in developing several cutting edge technologies for advancing spice farming and for addressing the real challenges faced by the spice farming community.
