Seminar on Spice Processing and Entrepreneurship Development’
The three days MIDH Sponsored District Level Seminar on ‘Spice Processing and Entrepreneurship Development’ was organised at ICAR - IISR during 5-7 March 2024. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. R. Dinesh, Director, ICAR-IISR at Main Campus, Kozhikode and Dr. K. Kandiannan welcomed the gathering. More than 120 participants registered and attended the seminar. As a part of the seminar, an exhibition of spice product developed and processed by the licensed start-up entrepreneurs were also displayed on the first day. The three day session covered lectures on ‘Schemes for Agro Processing’ delivered by Shri. Sarath P. D., Assistant District Industries Officer, ‘Value addition in Spices handled’ by Dr. E. Jayashree, and ‘Technologies for farmers and entrepreneurs’ delivered by Dr. Lijo Thomas. This was followed by hands on training on spice processing and value addition at the main campus and visit to ICAR-IISR Spice Processing Facility, ICAR-IISR Experimental farm, Peruvannamuzhi on the second and third day. The valedictory programme of seminar was conducted on 7 March 2024 during which the participants shared their experiences on the usefulness of the programme and expressed their interest to venture into new agri-business.
