IISR Chandra is an early-maturing, high-yielding black pepper hybrid developed at ICAR-Indian Institute of Spices Research (ICAR-IISR), Kozhikode, through controlled hybridization between HP 1117 × Thommankodi. Released in 2023, the variety demonstrates vigorous growth, excellent adaptability across Kerala and southern Karnataka, and outstanding quality parameters including high piperine and oleoresin content.
