The fourth International Day of Yoga (IDY) is celebrated on 21st June, 2018 worldwide. ICAR-Indian Institute of Spices Research, Kozhikode celebrated IDY with a practical yoga session handled by Isha yoga volunteers. The program started with the welcome address by Dr. C.K. Thankamani, Head (i/c), Division of Crop Production and PHT and the address by Dr. K. Nirmal Babu, Director, ICAR – IISR. He talked about the importance of practicing yoga to handle day-to-day work situation and ways to keep healthy lifestyle. A yoga session was organized with the help of Isha Yoga volunteers, Dr. Yadhu Krishna and Mr. Nishad. They conducted a 90 minutes free session of Upa-Yoga. The session ended with the prayer and the volunteers were felicitated with bush pepper cuttings and vote of thanks was given by Ms. Sivaranjani. R.
Likewise, yoga sessions was held in ICAR-Indian Institute of Spices Research, Regional Station Appangala. ICAR - IISR Experimental Farm and KVK, Peruvannamuzhi were also organized a yoga class on “Exercises and simple yoga practices” by Smt. R. Indumathy, Yoga Teacher, Vazhka Valamudan Mandram, Tirunelveli.
